Nursery

Welcome to our Nursery Page!

We have recently opened our Nursery, In January this year, and currently cater for children from the age of 3 years old. If you would like more information, feel free to contact Mrs Hordern, in the school office, to organise a visit or answer any questions you may have.

This term, we are really excited to welcome our new Nursery and Reception intake into our EYFS class. Our aim at Welshampton is to inspire and excite children at the beginning of their learning adventure and provide every member of our EYFS with a sense of awe, wonder and pride in their everyday learning and achievements. We are excited to start this Autumn with you.

Our nursery children will enjoy and retell 'We Are Going On A Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen, other books will include Traction man, Paper Dolls and Monkey Puzzle. This is as well as other story treasures that the children enjoy as they develop their love for reading with us.

Super Sounds activities will support our nursery children as they learn the vital foundational skills ready to begin their Ready Steady Phonics lessons in Reception. Activities include alliteration, syllables, intial sounds and oral blending.

The children will begin to explore Maths in the environment as they start to learn counting rhymes, group, order, sort, and match!

In ‘understanding the world’, children will delve into their own and each other’s lives as we begin to get to know our friends a little more. We will also look at key events that happen during the autumn term, such as bonfire night, Remembrance Day, harvest and Christmas. We will also learn how to care for and respect our natural environment during our forest school sessions whilst observing what is happening around us… what is happening to the trees? Why do we need to start wearing our coats?

Key Information for the Autumn Term:

  • Children should wear full uniform and black school shoes each day.
  • Our PE sessions will be on a Wednesday and Friday. Children are required attend school in their school PE kits.
  • Children should bring a water bottle every day.
  • Children do not need to bring pencil cases or other personal items to school.
  • Please label all clothing and personal items to avoid the loss of property.

Spare clothes:

As children can be super busy in school, we know that accidents occasionally occur. We advise that you send a spare set of trousers/skirts/socks/pants to be kept in your child’s locker, should this happen.

We would like to thank you for your continued support. If you have questions or queries, please see us at the start or end of the school day or email [email protected]

We are really looking forward to starting another amazing school year with you all and don’t forget to follow what goes on in our school on our Class Dojo page!
